Sink Into Her is a Dual-POV sweet cozy mystery and sapphic romance. The story starts off with the FMC finding a kraken (who lost her memory) in the FMC’s pool. There are themes of a little mermaid retelling (with a kraken instead of a mermaid), fated mates, and slow burn romance. The wait is long, but well worth it! Keep in mind this is a read for mature readers! There are tentacles involved; one of my favorite monster attributes.
As much as I love the idea of this book, there are a few things that I struggled with. A LOT happened in a short period of time which made me feel like something was lacking in the story line. I also felt as though the “Aha!” moments were too spelled out which made it less enjoyable for me. As an avid cozy mystery reader, usually I enjoy being able to get there myself. versus Little things like Alex explicitly stating that going through baby names and waiting for Ariel (Maris) to then say something like “Oh! So I can figure out my name” just gave an unnatural tone to the dialogue. I also felt like there was too much waffling on Alex’s part, it came across a little contrived (much like the dialogue). Lastly the timeline felt a little fudged. I was under the impression that it had been like three days, but then Alex said she always felt safe with Maris which implied that it could have been longer (among other reasons).
Sink Into Her is projected to be the first in a series, so I’m interested to see where the story goes and whose story may come next.
XOXO
